Toxic Backlink Audit and Disavow File

Spam links happen to good sites. Scraped pages, link farms, and long-dead widgets pile up over the years without you doing anything wrong. The question is whether they’re dragging you down, and which ones to tell Google to ignore.

What you get

For $99, one time, delivered to your inbox in minutes:

  • Every link to your site analyzed with a per-link spam score from 0 to 100, not just a domain-level average.
  • A flagged-links spreadsheet: each suspicious link with its score, the linking page, anchor text, follow or nofollow status, and the date it was first seen, so you can judge every one.
  • A draft disavow file in the exact format Google Search Console accepts, grouped by domain where the whole site is junk and by URL where only one page is. Review it, trim it, upload it.
  • A one-page summary of what share of your profile is clean, what share is questionable, and whether the numbers justify filing a disavow at all.

How the spam scoring works

Each link is scored on the linking site, not on you. The signals that push a score up: the linking domain’s own link profile looks automated, it links out to hundreds of unrelated sites, it sits on hosting shared with known spam networks, its anchor text patterns repeat across many targets, and the page it links from has no real content. A link from a small but genuine business site scores low even if that site has never heard of SEO.

Scores above 60 are flagged for review. Scores between 30 and 60 are listed but not added to the draft disavow file, because that band is mostly neglected sites rather than spammers. Below 30 is treated as normal. Nothing is disavowed on score alone; the draft file is built from links that are both high-scoring and part of a pattern.

Who this is for

  • You received a manual action for unnatural links and need a disavow file for the reconsideration request.
  • Your backlink count jumped with no campaign behind it and you want to know what arrived.
  • Rankings dropped and you need to rule links in or out before spending on content or a migration.
  • You are buying an aged domain and want to see the history before paying.
  • You are an agency onboarding a client whose previous provider bought links.

Who it is not for: a site with a normal, gradually built profile and no ranking problem. Google ignores most spam on its own, and most sites never need a disavow file. If you are not sure, read the free backlink audit guide first. It shows you how to do a rough check by hand. This audit does the same job exhaustively, in minutes.

How to use the disavow file

  1. Open the flagged-links spreadsheet and remove anything you recognize as a real site you want to keep.
  2. Open the draft disavow file and delete the matching lines. Keep a copy.
  3. In Google Search Console, open the Disavow Links tool for the exact property (www and non-www are separate) and upload the file. Uploading replaces any earlier file.
  4. If you have a manual action, submit the reconsideration request and attach the summary as your evidence.
  5. Give it a quarter. Google recrawls the disavowed pages on its own schedule.

Questions before you order

Will disavowing links hurt my rankings?

Not if the file only contains spam. That is why the audit delivers a reviewable spreadsheet and a draft file rather than uploading anything for you. Disavowing real links from real sites can hurt, so anything borderline is flagged for your judgment instead of being added automatically.

Does this fix a manual action?

It gives you the two things a reconsideration request needs: evidence that you identified the unnatural links and a disavow file covering them. You still submit the request yourself in Search Console, and Google decides.

How long until I see a result?

The audit arrives in minutes. Google's response takes longer: it has to recrawl the disavowed pages, which takes weeks to months. Judge the outcome over a quarter, not a week.

What if my site turns out to be clean?

Then the report says so, with the numbers to prove it, and the disavow file will be empty or nearly empty. Knowing that a ranking drop was not caused by links is worth the price on its own, because it tells you where to look next.

Can I run it on a competitor or a domain I am about to buy?

Yes. The audit reads public link data, so it works on any domain. It is a common check before buying an aged domain, since a spam-heavy history is the main reason a cheap old domain is cheap.
